The University Grants Commission (UGC) has launched the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) to enable seamless transfer of academic credits between universities. The move allows students to switch institutions without losing credits, fostering flexibility and interdisciplinary education. Over 500 universities have already registered under the initiative. UGC Chairperson Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar said the system would “empower students to design their own learning journey.”
